Copyright for Students

Are you unsure what is permitted from a copyright perspective when it comes to use of resources in your academic work? This guide will answer questions you might have and point to you in the direction of further sources of information and support.

Making Copies for Students with Disabilities

There is a Copyright Exception that allows the creation of accessible copies of copyright works by or for a disabled person for personal use. It covers any type of work. A copy of the work should already be owned by the person or institution (this does not include a lecturer or student's own personal copy). In addition, an already accessible version must not be available for purchase at a reasonable cost.

If you need help with making an accessible copy, visit the Library's Accessibility web page for additional information, including SENSUS Access, the free to use self-service conversion tool. You can also use Blackboard Ally to make materials in Blackboard more accessible. You may also contact the Library helpdesk
