How to Borrow

High Demand, Lockers and Collections

Everything you need to know about borrowing from the High Demand collection, Locker key loans, and collecting your reserved items.

What Is The High Demand Collection and Where Can I Find It?

The High Demand Collection is where we keep books which we know are in high demand, they have a shorter loan length of 3 days so that copies come back more quickly to satisfy demand.  If there are no requests on the item you borrow, it will still renew so you may be able to keep it longer than 3 days.

The Collection is on Floor 0 of the Library behind the Helpdesk.  There is a self-service machine in there so you can borrow your items before you leave the area, if you take unissued items out of High Demand the alarm will sound so please issue them first.

Lockers

Locker keys are stored in the High Demand area on Floor 0. If you would like to borrow one, please issue it using the borrowing machine in High Demand and unlock the case at the Helpdesk or Reception to get your key.

Lockers are issued for 14 days and will automatically renew a maximum of 3 times (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) or until requested (Research Postgraduate).

Check out our floorplans to see the locations of lockers. There are also 12 coin operated lockers in the Library Cloakroom available for RAC & INTO students, external borrowers and Library visitors on a daily basis. Please ask at the Library Helpdesk for details on accessing these.

Requested Items for Collection

If you have requested an item and received an email to say that it’s ready to collect, you can find it in the High Demand area. Please use the kiosk to issue the item before you leave.
