Along with all other UK HE Institutions, the University’s Read and Publish Deal with ACS will finish at the end of December 2024. Jisc have been working during 2024 to negotiate a new deal on behalf of UK HE Institutions, including the UEA. These discussions will now continue into 2025.
While Jisc and ACS work on this deal, ACS have confirmed “grace access” until 31st January 2025, to be extended if negotiations continue.
However, the workflow for publishing during this grace period is unclear. Therefore, if you are planning on publishing in an ACS journal, please get in touch with the Open Research team: openresearch@uea.ac.uk to discuss your next steps.
While the negotiations progress, UEA Library and Open Access teams, continue to develop contingency plans in case an agreement cannot be reached.
