Study Spaces

Head Space at the Library

‘Head Space at the Library, a place to pause’ is available on Floor 1 of the Library within our silent reading space.

Head Space is a new place for you to rest, relax and chill between your studies. Designed to be a safe and inclusive area available to students' day and night, the space has been designed for you, so you decide how you want to use it - whether that's to relax or study.

The Library have worked alongside the Students' Union and Disabilities Peer Support Group to design Head Space, following feedback from students requesting a quiet space free from distractions. We’ve spent some time picking a calm, earthy colour palate for the space, grouping chairs so you can sit with a friend, or sit alone, adding a variety of plants and selecting fabrics to present different tactile options for students. We’ve also installed softer lighting and brand-new blinds enabling better control over the light levels in Head Space. Best of all we've re-used and re-covered the furniture and lighting from elsewhere on campus, to make Head Space as sustainable as possible.

Head Space is located within the silent reading area on Floor 1 of the Library - just follow the signs when you enter the building.
