Document conversion using the SENSUS Access tool

What is SENSUS Access and how does it work?

SENSUS Access is a free to use self-service conversion tool for creating documents in accessible formats.  You can use it to convert documents into a range of alternate media including audio books (MP3 and DAISY), e-books (EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi) and digital Braille. The service can also be used to convert inaccessible documents such as image-only PDF files, JPG pictures and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into more accessible and less tricky formats.

Upload your original document, choose the output format you require, and the converted document will be emailed to you.  Please use your @uea.ac.uk email address.

Please note that the quality of your conversion will depend on the quality of the original you upload.  For how-to guides and best practice, visit the SENSUS Access Help pages.

You may also be able to make use of RNIB Bookshare.  Please speak to UEA Student Services for further information.

Or if you, or someone you’re acting on behalf of, has a disability that would prevent their enjoyment of the work to the same extent as a person who does not have that disability. If so, you need to agree that:

As SENSUS Access is a third party company we recommend that you do not use the software to convert documents owned by UEA which contain information that would be classified as personal, confidential, confidential-sensitive or secret information.
