ORCID: what is it and why use it?

UEA encourages all UEA researchers to register with ORCID for an ORCID ID. An ORCID ID is a persistent digital identifier that you own and control and distinguishes you and your work from every other researcher, even in instances where multiple individuals have the same name or where you may have changed your name over the course of your career. ORCID can help to ensure your work is recognised and correctly cited, assist in collecting information for research statistics and improve scholarly communication by enabling transparent connections between researchers.

UEA researchers can create a new ORCID ID in Pure (or link an existing one to their Pure profile) and populate the data held in Pure, helping reduce the number of places where information needs to be entered. For information on how to do this, visit the Pure user guide page.

There are also videos explaining how to set up your ORCID record.

You should use your ORCID ID in all research outputs.
