For the past few years, our Decolonise UEA Library collection has been steadily growing all thanks to the suggestions and contributions of our users! Join the library anti-racism group in highlighting some of the authors you’ve added to our collection and to help us continue transforming it.

In this collaborative workshop, we’ll be:

  • Creating profiles to amplify authors: We will be writing profiles to celebrate marginalised authors, artists and thinkers. We’ll turn these into posters for display throughout the library, drawing attention to where these authors can be found and encouraging other users to read their work.
  • Decolonising our searching practices: making use of the library catalogue and digital databases to create our profiles, we’ll share resources and techniques which can be used to counter structural biases faced when searching for information.
  • Sharing insights: Discuss some of your favourite authors, as well as the impact and importance of representation in our library collection.
  • Expanding the Decolonise UEA Collection: Are we missing work by an author you want added to the collection? Come along to the workshop, make an author profile, and let us know which titles you’d like us to add or purchase!
