Students on courses in Medicine and Health Sciences, that include clinical placements within the NHS, will be issued with an NHS OpenAthens account and login credentials. This is in addition to your UEA IT login details.
Your UEA IT login will let you access digital resources that the UEA Library Subscribes to. Your NHS OpenAthens login is for accessing the NHS Core Collection whilst you are on placement as part of your course.
If you do not receive your activation email, the activation link has expired or you need to re-set your password, contact eservices@uea.ac.uk
If you need help with your NHS OpenAthens account, please contact us at eservices@uea.ac.uk
When using your NHS OpenAthens login to access resources, it is best to use a private/incognito tab in your browser or use a browser that you don’t normally use to access UEA Library resources.
This is because sometimes cookies remember your previous login as a UEA user for authentication and then get confused when you login as an NHS OpenAthens user. This results in login error messages. This may also happen if you use browser extension tools where you select your institution at download e.g., Lean Library tool, Zotero.

Firefox – Ctrl, Shift, P
Safari – Select File from the top menu bar, and then choose New Private Window. You can also input the keyboard shortcut Shift + Command + N.
