Referencing

The referencing style you will be expected to use in Psychology is APA, if you study any modules from another school please ask your module leader which referencing style you are expected to use for that school.

There are lots of copies of the current APA referencing style guidelines available in the library Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition. (Your lecturers won't mind if you use the 6th or 7th edition guidelines). Unfortunately there is no ebook of this book available to buy for institutions, despite personal e-book purchase options being available, however there are supplementary e-book APA guides available to help support you such as:

Cite them right  A clear online guide to referencing with lots of examples and walkthroughs of different citation styles, including APA.

Library search citation tool

There is a tool built into library search which will format citations for you as you find new material, this includes an APA style option. Make sure you always double check the citation before using it in your work as, like all auto generated information, there can sometimes be errors.

you can find out more about this tool in the 'first assignment' pages.

You can find information and activities to help you understand the importance of these values and how to ensure your work meets the University's expectations in relation to plagiarism and collusion on the LET teams pages, there is also extra support on referencing available from the LET team:
