UEA Library has big plans for the summer!
We are creating up to 80 additional study spaces and will be opening up the entrance on Floor 0, with work starting 27th June and due to be completed by the end of August ready for the start of the new academic year.

The works will help to create a more modern and dynamic learning environment with the quality of study spaces enhanced. Comprised of a range of individual and group study areas, most spaces will come with power for improved digital learning. Plus, select areas will include new features such as sound muffling dividers.
Our plans will also see the entrance barriers removed, providing greater accessibility and creating a more eye-catching and spacious reception area.
Nicholas Lewis, Library Director, said: “The Library is committed to improving the student experience, and this is another step towards creating a modern and digitally enabled Library for users. These plans are in response to user feedback from students including Student Voice and Pulse surveys asking for a wider range of spaces, more capacity in the Library, and improved power supply. We’re very pleased to be able to deliver a solution for users as part of ongoing efforts to improve the Library service and offering.”

Accessing the Library
From 27th June until the end of the works, the main entrance to the Library will be closed. Entrance and exit will be via the Lecture Theatres, and it is a fully accessible route (Lecture Theatre lifts will be fully operational by 27th June). The route will be clearly signposted for users.
Floor 0 (excluding the IT suite located in the Library extension) will be closed. All other floors will remain open as usual.
The prayer facilities in the Lecture Theatre building will be fully operational and accessible whilst the Library building works take place.
Library Helpdesk and Reception
For the duration of the works the Library Helpdesk and Reception will be relocated to room LIB 01.36. The new route into the Library will lead directly to 01.36 where you will be able to issue and return your items and speak to Library staff if you have a query. Security staff will be present in this room 24/7.
Helpdesk hours and some Library services may be impacted during this time. You will be able to find updates on our dedicated FAQs page. Library study spaces and physical books will still be available and accessible to users.
